Grizzlies knock off lowly Pistons, run win streak to 3

Trey Jemison collected 17 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, helping lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 108-90 win over the visiting Detroit Pistons on Friday.

Maozinha Pereira also scored 17 points for the Grizzlies (27-50), while Scotty Pippen Jr. chipped in 16 points. GG Jackson and Lamar Stevens scored 15 apiece for Memphis, which won its third straight game. Jake LaRavia added 12 points.

Jaden Ivey scored 31 points to lead the Pistons (13-64), who have dropped three games in a row and 11 of 12. Jalen Duren finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Detroit, and Jaylen Nowell had 12 points.

After holding a 19-point halftime lead, Memphis opened the second half on a 16-8 run, blowing the game open at 73-46.

Later in the third quarter, Duren scored seven straight points as the Pistons cut their deficit to 86-70 with 1:28 left. Pereira then answered with a three-point play to extend the Grizzlies lead to 19 heading into the final quarter.

Detroit outscored Memphis 20-19 in the fourth.

In the first quarter, the Pistons took an early lead, as Tosan Evbuomwan scored three straight points to give Detroit a 19-13 lead at the 5:11 mark.

Jared Rhoden scored his first bucket of the game with 2:40 remaining in the first quarter, giving the Pistons a 22-19 advantage.

The Grizzlies then finished the quarter on a 13-0 run, capped with back-to-back buckets from Stevens.

Ivey’s 3-pointer trimmed Detroit’s deficit to 36-31 with 8:44 left in the first half, but the Grizzlies answered with a 21-4 run, ending with Jackson’s layup at the 1:32 mark, giving Memphis a 57-35 lead.

Malachi Flynn’s free throw and Troy Brown Jr.’s dunk accounted for the final three points of the first half for Detroit, as it trailed 57-38 at the break.

Ivey led the Pistons with 20 points in the half, while Stevens 13 paced Memphis with 13.
