The Miami Heat signed guard Dru Smith to a standard contract and converted the contract of forward Cole Swider to a two-way agreement on Saturday, four days ahead of their season opener against the visiting Detroit Pistons.

The team also waived forward Justin Champagnie and center/forward Cheick Diallo.

Smith, signed to a two-way contract July 1 by the Heat, appeared in four preseason games, averaging 6.5 points, 5.2 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 23.6 minutes.

He played in 15 NBA games last season with the Heat and Brooklyn Nets, averaging 2.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 10.5 minutes.

Swider, signed by the Heat Aug. 11, played in five preseason games with Miami, putting up 11.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 19.8 minutes per game.

Swider split last season between the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate, playing in seven games with the Lakers, totaling nine points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Champagnie, a second-year forward from St. John’s, averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in five games split between the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics.

Champagnie was signed by the Heat Aug. 11 and averaged 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in four preseason games.

Diallo, who played in college at Kansas, has 183 NBA games (three starts) under his belt. He was signed by the Heat Sept. 27 and appeared in three preseason games with Miami, averaging 2.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 6.9 minutes.
