LOL News: Liquid advance in lower bracket at LCS Spring playoffs

Team Liquid eliminated 100 Thieves 3-1 on Friday in their lower-bracket semifinal of the League Championship Series Spring Split playoffs.

Liquid advances to the lower-bracket final on March 30. They will meet the loser of Saturday’s upper-bracket final between FlyQuest and Cloud9. The winner of the Saturday match goes to the grand final to oppose the March 30 winner.

The Spring Split playoff champion and runner-up will be the North American League of Legends circuit’s representatives in the Mid-Season Invitational, scheduled for May 1-19 in China. The LCS winner heads to the MSI main draw, while the second-place team will compete in the MSI’s play-in event.

Liquid won its first map in 25 minutes while playing on red, but 100 Thieves won Map 2 in 35 minutes while still on blue. Team Liquid took the lead with a 40-minute victory on blue, then clinched the match in 29 minutes on red.

Sean “Yeon” Sung of the United States led Team Liquid with a kills/deaths/assists ratio of 36/10/39. Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung of South Korea topped 100 Thieves at 19/13/34.
