Jahmir Young scored 18 points and dealt seven assists to lead Maryland to a 82-63 win over injury-riddled Nebraska Saturday in College Park, Md.

Donald Carey hit all four of his 3-point attempts on his way to scoring 16 points. Donta Scott tallied 12 points and six rebounds while Patrick Emilien came off the bench to deliver 10 points and seven boards.

Hakim Hart added 11 points and five assists as Maryland (14-7, 5-5 Big Ten) remained true to form in the league. They are 5-0 at home and 0-5 on the road.

Derrick Walker tallied 16 points and eight rebounds for Nebraska (10-12, 3-8) which lost its third straight. The Cornhuskers’ slide coincides with the loss of starting guards Emmanuel Bandoumel (knee) and Juwan Gary (shoulder).

Freshman Sam Hoiberg, who entered with 13 points this year, scored 15 for Nebraska, making all three of his 3-point attempts.

Maryland outscored Nebraska in transition 22-4 and off turnovers 20-6. The Cornhuskers shot 53.3 percent from the floor but were undone by 15 turnovers.

Young had a dominant stretch early in the second half as Maryland scored on five straight possessions.

During the run, Young had four points and three assists, closing the spree with a steal and an alley-oop feed to Scott, whose slam-dunk gave the Terps a 51-36 lead. After that, Nebraska got no closer than eight points.

Maryland wrapped it up with the help of two technical fouls by the Cornhuskers, 40 seconds apart. Young and Hart each converted two awarded free throws, sandwiched around a 3-pointer by Scott as the Terps pushed their advantage to 66-50.

In the closing minutes, Maryland led by as many as 22 points.

In the first half, Maryland took the lead for good with a 10-point run as Reese scored two buckets inside, Scott drained a 3-pointer and Young battled inside for a three-point-play that put the Terps up 18-13.

Hoiberg, the son of Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg, came off the bench and hit his first four shots. But over a span of 11:43, he was the only Cornhusker who scored as his teammates went a combined 0-for-9 and committed six turnovers.

The Terps took advantage to push their lead to 40-30 at the break.
