The Chicago Cubs placed outfielder Seiya Suzuki on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a right oblique strain.

The Cubs recalled outfielder Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move.

To start his third season in MLB after moving over from Japan, Suzuki leads the Cubs with 18 hits and 13 RBIs through 15 games, with three home runs and a .305 batting average.

The 29-year-old, who played Sunday against the Seattle Mariners and went 2-for-4, has batted .277 with 37 homers and 133 RBIs over 264 career games since joining the Cubs in 2022.

Canario, 23, made his major league debut last season and got into six games for the Cubs. He went 5-for-17 (.294) with six RBIs, one home run, one triple and one double. Canario has batted .269 so far this season at Iowa.
