The Chicago White Sox are bringing back infielder Elvis Andrus on a one-year deal worth $3 million, multiple reports said Sunday night.

After filling in at shortstop in Chicago for the final six weeks of the 2022 season, Andrus is expected to slot in at second base for the White Sox this year, ESPN reported.

The Oakland Athletics released Andrus last August and he caught on with the White Sox as they made a playoff push that came up short. Andrus played shortstop while Tim Anderson was sidelined by injury.

In 149 games split between Oakland and Chicago, Andrus batted .249 with 17 home runs, 58 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. He had nine homers and 11 steals in his 43 games with the White Sox after just eight homers and seven steals in 106 games with the A’s.

In 14 seasons with the Texas Rangers (2009-20), Athletics (2021-22) and White Sox, Andrus is a career .270 hitter with 96 home runs, 360 doubles, 731 RBIs and 335 steals. He was an All-Star in 2010 and 2012.
