Josh Harrison knocked a game-ending single in the 12th inning, Adam Engel had three hits and Luis Robert added two hits and four RBIs to lift the host Chicago White Sox to a 7-6 win against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

Limited to an infield hit while striking out 11 times in the first six innings against White Sox starter Dylan Cease, Toronto rallied against the Chicago bullpen before the hosts regrouped.

Toronto scored runs in the 10th and 11th innings but went down in order against Vince Velasquez in the 12th. Velasquez (3-3) allowed an unearned run and one hit in two innings to earn the victory.

The Blue Jays blew three saves. Matt Gage (0-1) was the loser after allowing two unearned runs and one hit in 1 2/3 innings.

Harrison, Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu and Danny Mendick had two hits each for Chicago.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Raimel Tapia had two hits each for Toronto, while Alejandro Kirk had a home run.

Robert, who extended his hitting streak to 12 games, grounded a game-tying, two-run single with two outs in the ninth to force extra innings. After an Abreu single sent Robert to third, Toronto’s Bradley Zimmer made a sprawling catch in center field to deprive AJ Pollock of a game-ending hit.

Engel and Robert hit RBI doubles in the second and fifth innings, respectively, to give Chicago a 2-0 lead. Kirk drew the Blue Jays to within 2-1 with a solo shot in the seventh before Toronto succeeded with small ball against the White Sox’s Davis Martin in a three-run eighth.

Cease fanned the first five hitters of the game and retired the first 10 Blue Jays overall before walking Bo Bichette with one out in the fourth.

Cease walked two and allowed only an infield hit to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. leading off the sixth. The right-hander has a 0.00 ERA in 20 1/3 innings over four starts in June, as each of the nine runs he has allowed this month were unearned.

Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman gave up two runs on seven hits in six innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Toronto’s George Springer left the game in the eighth inning due to right elbow discomfort.
