Austin FC signed veteran midfielder Ethan Finlay to a contract extension through 2024 with an option for 2025.

Finlay, 33, recorded five goals and four assists in 34 MLS matches (20 starts) during the 2023 season.

“Ethan is an exemplary professional who demonstrates his quality on the pitch and his character off it every day,” sporting director Rodolfo Borrell said in a news release Tuesday. “We’re happy to have him remain a member of the Austin FC family.”

Finlay originally joined Austin as a free agent before the 2022 campaign.

“My family and I love being part of this club and this community,” Finlay said. “I believe the organization has a lot of potential and I’m excited to be a part of our continued growth moving forward.”

He has 59 goals and 52 assists in 313 career matches (214 starts) with the Columbus Crew (2012-17), Minnesota United (2017-21) and Austin. He was an MLS All-Star and made the MLS Best XI in 2015.
