FC Cincinnati midfielder Luciano Acosta was named the league’s Most Valuable Player on Monday,

The Argentine playmaker took the honor in a runaway over Los Angeles FC forward Denis Bouanga, 60.37 percent to 14.97 percent. Thiago Almada of Atlanta United finished third with 6.46 percent of the votes cast by players, media and technical staff.

“I’m very proud of this team,” Acosta said in a video produced by the team. “I think everybody deserves something this year. We deserve more. We have to give it our all. Let’s go.”

Acosta led the league with 31 goal contributions (17 goals, 14 assists) to help FC Cincinnati claim its first Supporters Shield.

The Orange & Blue play Columbus on Saturday in the Eastern Conference final.

Acosta, 29, has 58 goals and 78 assists since entering the league in 2016, good for the most goal contributions of any player in that span.
