The Los Angeles Galaxy re-signed defender Eriq Zavaleta through the 2024 season, the team announced Tuesday.

The 30-year-old El Salvador international has played in 144 MLS regular-season matches (112 starts) with the Seattle Sounders (2013), Chivas USA (2014), Toronto FC (2015-21) and the Galaxy. He has two goals and one assist.

Last season, Zavaleta played in just four matches (three starts) for the Galaxy.

Zavaleta has two goals in 19 games for El Salvador’s national team.

The Galaxy open the season Feb. 25 against defending MLS champion Los Angeles FC at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
