NBA2K News: Knicks come back to win NBA 2K League playoff opener

Knicks Gaming, fresh off sneaking into the postseason by winning The Ticket event, rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Gen.G Tigers on Wednesday as action began in the NBA 2K League’s 5v5 playoffs in Washington.

The day’s three other first-round matches ended in 2-0 sweeps. Bucks Gaming downed DUX Infinitos, Pistons Gaming got past Blazer5 Gaming and expansion team NBL Oz Gaming eliminated NetsGC.

The teams were reseeded after Wednesday’s play, setting the Thursday quarterfinal matchups. The Knicks will go up against 76ers GC, the Bucks will oppose T-Wolves Gaming, the Pistons will face Warriors Gaming Squad, and NBL will take on Hornets Venom GT.

All playoff matches are best-of-three until the final on Saturday, which will be best-of-five. The championship team will receive half of the $1 million prize pool.

On Wednesday, Gen.G opened with a 66-61 win before the Knicks bounced back for 71-69 and 66-61 victories. Malik “OriginalMalik” Hobson led the Knicks with averages of 24.7 points and 6.3 assists per game. The Tigers’ Jaiden “gallow” Frank put up 20 points and 12 assists per contest.

The Bucks rolled over DUX 69-58 and 72-55. Mason “JohhnyRed” Bracken put up 24.5 points per game for the Bucks, while Zach “Vandi” Vandivier averaged 18.5 points and seven assists per game for DUX.

The Pistons topped Blazer5 82-75 and 91-71 behind Anthony “Ant” Costanzo’s 34 points and 13.5 assists per game. Claude “Claude” Knight averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 assists in the losing effort.

NBL defeated NetsGC 73-65 and 67-64 as Jyden “Jyden” McBath-Spencer notched 21 points and 11 assists per game. Tariq “Greens” Reed registered 21 points and 11.5 assists per game for the Nets.
