Top-seeded Knicks Gaming stayed alive in the losers bracket of the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Switch Open, winning two matches on Thursday in Washington.

No. 1 Knicks Gaming downed No. 19 Magic Gaming 3-1, then beat No. 9 Cavs Legion GC 3-2.

The other team to earn two victories on Thursday to remain in contention was No. 7 T-Wolves Gaming, who ousted No. 3 Pistons GT 3-1 and then swept No. 23 NetsGC 3-0.

In early matches Thursday, the Cavs topped No. 5 Pacers Gaming 3-1, and the Nets handled No. 8 NBL Oz Gaming 3-1.

The 25 NBA 2K League teams, who were seeded based on qualifying results the past few weeks, were joined in the double-elimination bracket phase of the $150,000 event by seven community (amateur) teams. Each match is best-of-five.

In-person play began Wednesday with 12 teams remaining in the field — eight in the upper bracket and four in the lower bracket. The champion will be crowned on Saturday, with the winner taking home $60,000 and the runner-up getting $30,000.

The winners of Thursday’s first matches will wind up with a pay day from the tournament, while the losers go home emptyhanded.

Upper-bracket action resumes Friday with No. 24 Lakers Gaming opposing No. 4 DUX Infinitos before No. 2 Bucks Gaming clashes with No. 11 Celtics Crossover Gaming.
