NFL News: Report: Ravens TE Mark Andrews to play in AFC title game

Mark Andrews was on the practice field for the second consecutive week when the Baltimore Ravens kicked off preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday.

Andrews expects to play in the AFC Championship Game for the first time since landing on injured reserve in November, NFL Network reported Wednesday. But head coach John Harbaugh cautioned no decision on his tight end’s gameday status would be made until late in the week, in a timetable that also applies to cornerback Marlon Humphrey (ankle).

Count quarterback Lamar Jackson among the most eager to find out if Andrews gets the green light.

“That’s my bread and butter, big bro. And it would definitely mean a lot,” Jackson said of potentially getting Andrews back in the lineup. “We’ve already got guys who’ve stepped up, like (Isaiah) Likely, Bate (Rashod Bateman), OB (Odell Beckham Jr.), Nelly (Nelson Agholor). We’ve got Charlie (Kolar). We’ve got all these guys that stepped up.

“But with Mark and the type of guy he is, the type of caliber player he is, and what he brings to the table for us, it would definitely mean a lot for us.”

Andrews, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, hasn’t played since Week 11 and targeted a return for the conference championship when he was placed on injured reserve.

Andrews led the team in receptions and yards in 2021 and 2022 and was tops on the team with 45 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdowns at the time of his injury.
