The Las Vegas Raiders plan to release running back Kenyan Drake, multiple reports said Monday.
Drake signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Raiders before the 2021 season. But the team’s new hierarchy of coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler opted to move on from the 28-year-old.
The Raiders’ depth behind starting running back Josh Jacobs also includes Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden and 2022 draft picks Zamir White and Brittain Brown.
In his only season with Las Vegas, Drake carried the ball 63 times for 254 yards and two touchdowns and added 30 receptions for 291 yards and a score in 12 games (two starts).
In six seasons spent with the Miami Dolphins (2016-19), Arizona Cardinals (2019-20) and Raiders, Drake has gained 3,384 yards rushing with 29 touchdowns, and 1,535 yards receiving with seven touchdown catches across 89 games (39 starts).
