The Carolina Hurricanes are bringing back forward Brendan Lemieux on a one-year extension for the 2024-25 season.

The deal is worth the league minimum $775,000 for the former second-round pick, who turns 28 on Friday.

“Brendan has brought an element of toughness to our lineup,” Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said in Monday’s announcement. “He understands his role with our club, and we’re glad to keep him in Raleigh for another season.”

Lemieux has three points (two goals, one assist), 55 penalty minutes and 58 hits in 25 games this season. He played in his 300th career game on Sunday. He has 72 points (35 goals, 37 assists) and 539 penalty minutes across seven seasons with five teams.
