Trevor Moore scored twice and Phillip Danault had the first goal of Los Angeles’ third-period blitz as the visiting Kings snapped an eight-game winless streak by defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 on Monday afternoon in Raleigh, N.C.

Alex Laferriere and Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored in the third for the Kings, who had been 0-4-4 during their skid. Moore had the first goal and an empty-netter for Los Angeles, which received 30 saves from David Rittich.

Danault had a three-point outing by also registering two assists, and Vladislav Gavrikov, Mikey Anderson and Matt Roy each provided two assists as well. Los Angeles improved to 14-4-3 in road games.

The Hurricanes had their eight-game points streak broken despite Jordan Martinook’s tying goal in the second period and Jack Drury’s goal in the third. Antti Raanta made 20 saves on 24 shots but he was pulled with 14:40 remaining and replaced by Yaniv Perets, who made his NHL debut and stopped one shot.

The Kings were ahead 1-0 after 20 minutes and improved to 14-1-4 when leading after the first period.

Moore opened the scoring with his team-leading 19th goal of the season. Later, his empty-netter gave him the first 20-goal season of his career.

Martinook’s fifth goal of the season gave him goals in three straight games, a first-time accomplishment in his 10-year career.

Danault’s ninth goal came 1:01 into the third period, followed by Laferriere with his sixth at 2:21 and Dubois with his ninth at 5:20 for a 4-1 lead.

Drury’s eighth goal came with 11:02 to play.

The outcome reversed a 6-5 result in Carolina’s favor from the second game of the season in Los Angeles.

The Hurricanes, who hadn’t lost in regulation since prior to Christmas, fell to 12-4-4 in home games.

In a pregame ceremony, Justin Williams was inducted into the Hurricanes Hall of Fame. The former forward helped the team to the 2006 Stanley Cup, and won two more Cups with the Kings in 2012 and 2014.
