Max Domi had a goal and two assists, Martin Jones earned his first shutout of the season and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 7-0 Saturday night.

Jones was making his second start of the season and stopped 38 shots to earn his 29th career shutout.

Matthew Knies, Mitchell Marner and William Nylander each added a goal and an assist. Bobby McMann, John Tavares and Noah Gregor also scored for the Maple Leafs. Tyler Bertuzzi tied a career high with three assists.

The Maple Leafs were without 23-goal scorer Auston Matthews and TJ Brodie, who both missed the game due to illness.

Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry allowed four goals on 14 shots before being replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic in the second period. Nedeljkovic made 18 saves.

Toronto took a 3-0 lead in the first period.

Knies scored his seventh goal of the season at 1:57. He flipped a backhand from nine feet out over Jarry’s glove after Domi’s pass put him in the clear.

Domi caused a Penguins turnover in the neutral zone that set up a Maple Leafs two-on-one with Nicholas Robertson feeding Marner a saucer pass. Marner knocked in the bouncing puck at 10:15 for his 13th goal this season.

McMann scored his first NHL goal at 18:25 on a rebound from Pontus Holmberg’s shot followed by a pass from Bertuzzi.

Shots on goal were 11-11 after one period.

Domi scored his second of the season at 2:28 of the second period and Jarry was replaced by Nedeljkovic.

Tavares scored his ninth goal of the season at 4:25 of the second during a power play. Kris Letang was off for holding.

Gregor scored his fifth goal of the season during a power play at 14:04 of the second. Evgeni Malkin was serving a high-sticking penalty.

Pittsburgh led 29-25 in shots on goal after two periods.

Nylander scored his 15th goal of the season at 14:19 of the third period. Bertuzzi and Jake McCabe had the assists.

The teams have split two games this season.
