NHL News: Power outage delays start of Blue Jackets’ home game vs. Ducks

The Columbus Blue Jackets’ home game Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks has been moved from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ET because of a power outage in downtown Columbus, the team announced.

Nationwide Arena will open to spectators at 7:45 p.m. At the time of the 5 p.m. announcement, power had not been restored. The Blue Jackets said more details will come if the situation is not resolved by 6 p.m.

The game features teams with the Nos. 2 and 3 overall picks of the 2023 NHL Draft in the Ducks’ Leo Carlsson and the Blue Jackets’ Adam Fantilli.

Carlsson, 18, has recorded one goal in two games since Anaheim selected him with the second overall pick in late June. Last season’s Swedish Junior Hockey Player of the Year missed the Ducks’ first two games with a lower-body injury sustained at practice on Oct. 6, and then was a healthy scratch Sunday as part of his workload management.

Fantilli, chosen by Columbus with the third pick out of Michigan, scored his first NHL goal in his last game. Fantilli, 19, tallied late in the third period and Jack Roslovic scored 3:07 into overtime to lift the Blue Jackets to a 5-4 victory versus the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
