Timo Meier scored the go-ahead goal with 2:48 remaining and Logan Couture and Mario Ferraro sealed the win with empty-net goals as the San Jose Sharks earned a 5-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

Matt Nieto and Luke Kunin also scored goals and Erik Karlsson and Alexander Barabanov each had two assists for San Jose, which has won three straight games for first time since Jan. 6-11. Couture finished with two points.

James Reimer stopped 24 shots for the Sharks, who defeated Vegas in regulation for just the second time in 25 regular-season meetings.

Jonathan Marchessault and Jack Eichel scored goals for the Golden Knights, who took their second straight loss following a nine-game winning streak. Logan Thompson made 24 saves while having a personal six-game winning streak snapped.

Meier scored the game-winner on a power play when he fired a shot from the slot off a Couture pass over Thompson’s right arm for his eighth goal of the season.

Vegas — which entered the contest with a 19-1-4 record against San Jose, including an 18-game point streak — took a 1-0 lead with four seconds remaining in the opening period, on Eichel’s 10th goal of the season. It was also the 400th career point for Eichel, who one-timed Shea Theodore’s pass from the middle of the left circle.

Kunin tied it at the 8:05 mark of the second period with his third goal of the season. Karlsson fired a wrist shot from the right point that caromed off Vegas defenseman Alec Martinez to the bottom of the right circle, and Kunin then fired the rebound high past Thompson’s blocker side for his 100th NHL point.

The Golden Knights regained the lead at 15:53 of the second on Marchessault’s seventh goal of the season. Marchessault ripped a wrist shot from the right circle over Reimer’s glove and into the top right corner of the net to finish a two-on-one with William Karlsson.

Nieto tied it 2-2 just 63 seconds into the third period when he cut in front of the net and slid in a backhand shot off a Barabanov pass from along the wall for his second goal of the season.
