Vanessa DiBernardo, Temwa Chawinga and Bia Zaneratto each had a goal and an assist and the Kansas City Current held on for a 4-2 victory against visiting Angel City FC with the aid of a video review Saturday.

A would-be tying goal from Rocky Rodriguez with about six minutes remaining in regulation time was nullified because of offsides after a review.

Zaneratto scored in extra time to push the margin to two goals, giving her two goals this year. Alexa Spaanstra also scored for the Current (3-0-0, 9 points).

Angel City (0-2-1, 1 point), which had scored one goal combined in its first two games, doubled that with two goals Saturday.

Sydney Leroux scored in the first half for Angel City. Madison Curry converted about six minutes prior to the Rodriguez tally being wiped out.

Houston Dash 3, Bay FC 2

Havana Solaun scored deep into extra time and Houston pulled out a positive result for the team’s first victory of the season in San Jose, Calif.

Houston’s Diana Ordonez scored two second-half goals, but when Bay FC’s Racheal Kundananji tied the match three minutes into extra time it looked like the Dash (1-1-1, 4 points) would have to wait to notch their first 2024 victory.

Then Solaun, who was a substitute, made a shot from the box count in the 10th minute of stoppage time for her first NWSL goal.

Deyna Castellanos also scored for Bay FC (1-2-0, 3 points).

Ordonez tied the match in the 66th minute and then produced the go-ahead goal in the 87th minute. The second goal came following Ordonez’s penalty kick, which was blocked by Bay FC goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx. But the ball bounced right to a charging Ordonez and she made the second effort count.

The penalty kick was granted after Dorian Bailey’s hand ball in the penalty area.

Deyna Castellanos put Bay FC on the board in the 19th minute for the NWSL rookie’s first goal.

North Carolina Courage 1, NY/NJ Gotham 0

Brianna Pinto scored late in the first half and that was enough for the host Courage.

The Courage (2-1-0, 6 points) had fewer than half of the match’s scoring chances. Gotham (1-1-0, 3 points), the reigning league champion, has split two road matches.

Pinto redirected a header from Ashley Sanchez, who also was in the box and supplied the assist. Gotham goalkeeper Cassie Miller couldn’t reverse her body’s momentum in time to make a stop.

Racing Louisville 2, Portland Thorns 2

Sam Coffey scored in extra time as the host Thorns managed a draw in what was a strong comeback after Racing Louisville’s Uchenna Kanu scored twice in the first six minutes, but the result left both teams winless.

Coffey’s goal came after more than eight minutes of extra time. She took a pass and maneuvered inside the box from up top and fired a shot into the net.

Portland (0-2-1, 1 point) also received a goal from Morgan Weaver in the 52nd minute. Racing Louisville (0-0-3, 3 points) had only nine shot attempts, with Kanu converting two of those.
