The Chicago Red Stars announced the signing Thursday of forward Nadia Gomes for the 2024 NWSL season.

The deal with the 27-year-old Portuguese international also includes a one-year club option.

Gomes arrives from the USL W League side San Francisco Glens SC, where she scored 17 goals in 15 matches and was named the circuit’s player of the year in 2023.

“We are very happy to welcome Nadia to the Red Stars,” general manager Richard Feuz said in a news release. “Nadia is a proven goal scorer, as her record in the USL W last season shows, and we look forward to seeing her develop further as a Red Star.”

She starred at BYU from 2014-17, tallying 23 goals and 23 assists in 83 matches and earning West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors in 2016.
