OVERWATCH News: Fuel top charge, continue run through OWL East Summer qualifiers

The Dallas Fuel topped the Guangzhou Charge 3-1 on Saturday to hold on to first place in the Overwatch League Summer Stage qualifiers in the East Region.

The Fuel posted a 2-1 win on Ilios, followed by a 1-0 victory on Midtown before the Charge got on the board with a 3-2 triumph on Route 66. The Fuel closed out the match with a 1-0 victory on Colosseo.

Also on Saturday, the Seoul Infernal notched a 3-1 win over PANTHERA, the Hangzhou Spark secured a 3-1 victory over the Shanghai Dragons and the Dreamers swept O2 Blast.

The Infernal remained in second place in the standings by winning three straight maps after stumbling to a 2-1 loss on Lijiang Tower in the opener. The Infernal followed with wins on Numbani (3-2), Route 66 (3-0) and New Queen Street (1-0).

The third-place Spark opened with a 2-0 victory on Antarctic Peninsula, but the Dragons drew even with a 2-1 win on Eichenwalde. The Spark closed with wins on Route 66 (2-1) and Colosseo (1-0).

The Dreamers made quick work of O2 Blast with 2-1 wins on Busan and Dorado, with a 4-3 triumph on Numbani sandwiched between them.

East Region qualifying runs through Aug. 6. All matches are best-of-five in a single round-robin format, with all 10 teams moving on to the Summer Stage Knockouts. Matches between the three teams based in South Korea (Fuel, Dynasty, Infernal) will all be offline.

Summer Stage qualifying action in the West continues Saturday with three matches:
–Vancouver Titans vs. Washington Justice
–Boston Uprising vs. Atlanta Reign
–Vegas Eternal vs. Los Angeles Valiant
