OVERWATCH News: Seoul Infernal off to fast start at Summer Stage qualifying

Seoul Infernal breezed to a 3-0 victory over Hangzhou Spark on Friday in Summer Stage qualifying action in the Overwatch League’s East Region.

Seoul Infernal posted a 2-0 win on Busan, a 1-0 victory on Midtown and a 3-0 triumph on Circuit Royal.

Also on Friday, Shanghai Dragons recorded a 3-1 victory over Seoul Dynasty and Ghangzhou Charge defeated O2 Blast by the same final score.

Seoul Dynasty posted a 2-0 win on Oasis before the Shanghai Dragons turned the tide of the contest. The Dragons seized 3-2 wins on both Eichenwalde and Watchpoint: Gibraltar and a 1-0 victory on Esperanca.

Guangzhou Charge took the early advantage with a 2-1 win on Antarctic Peninsula and a 4-3 victory on Numbani. O2 Blast answered with a 3-2 triumph on Dorado before the Charge countered with a 1-0 win on New Queen Street.

Summer Stage Qualifiers in the West runs through Sept. 4, with each team in the region playing a total of eight best-of-five matches. The top three teams will advance to the playoffs, while the fourth- through 10th-ranked squads will be sent to the play-ins.

East Region qualifying runs through Aug. 6. All matches will also be best-of-five in a single round-robin format, with all 10 teams moving on to the Summer Stage Knockouts. Matches between the three teams based in Korea (Dallas Fuel, Seoul Dynasty, Seoul Infernal) will all be offline.

Qualifying action continues on Friday with three matches in the West:
