Three-time PGA Tour winner Robert Gamez was released from a Florida jail following his arrest on misdemeanor battery charges Sunday.

Gamez, 54, was arrested at a home in the Bay Hill area of Orlando following an alleged incident Saturday night.

The battery charge involves “actually and intentionally” touching or hitting another person “against the will of the other,” per the Florida statute.

He won the 1990 Nestle Invitational — now knows as the Arnold Palmer Invitational — when he eagled the 72nd hole from 176 yards away at Bay Hill, defeating Greg Norman by one shot. He also won the 1990 Northern Telecom Tucson Open — his first official PGA Tour start — and the 2005 Valero Texas Open.

He last competed on the PGA Champions Tour in 2021.
