Former Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry and Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry teamed to purchase the fifth team in the TGL.

The six-team high-tech golf league still has one opening after adding the San Francisco team fronted by Lasry’s Avenue Sports Fund with Curry as a partner and limited partners including Warriors teammate Klay Thompson and former teammate Andre Iguodala.

“Avenue is thrilled to be working with Stephen Curry, in partnership with TMRW Sports as a founding TGL team,” Lasry said. “Our ownership group is excited to become stewards of TGL San Francisco and to represent Northern California, which is the center of tech innovation and is a perfect location for a TGL team in this extraordinary new sports league.

“As we move towards the launch of TGL’s inaugural season in January 2024, TGL San Francisco will be focused on developing an extraordinary team of talented players and we are excited to have Andre and Klay as part of our amazing ownership group.”

Mets owner Steve Cohen purchased the New York franchise, and other teams are in Boston (owned by Fenway Sports Group), Los Angeles (owned by Serena Williams, her husband Alexis Ohanian and sister Venus Williams) and Atlanta (owned by Falcons owner Arthur Blank).

Los Angeles Golf Club and Atlanta Drive GC are the only teams with established names and brands in the virtual golf league backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

TGL New York, TGL Boston and TGL San Francisco are expected to establish those identifiers in the coming week, TGL said in a statement on Thursday. The first event is scheduled to take place at SoFi Center in January 2024.

TGL confirmed five more players for the season one roster: Patrick Cantlay, Lucas Glover, Wyndham Clark, Kevin Kisner and Min Woo Lee. In total, 24 players have committed and will be spread across the six teams to create four-man rosters.
