Jack Suwinski and Josh VanMeter hit three-run homers Wednesday as the Pittsburgh Pirates erased a four-run deficit to beat the visiting Colorado Rockies 10-5.

Ben Gamel added a pair of RBI singles and Cal Mitchell had an RBI double for the Pirates, who took two of three in the series.

Pittsburgh starter Zach Thompson gave up four runs and seven hits in three innings, with three strikeouts and one walk. Dillon Peters (4-2) pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.

C.J. Cron hit a solo homer, Randal Grichuk added a two-run double and an RBI single, and Brian Serven had an RBI single for the Rockies.

Colorado starter Ryan Feltner allowed two runs and three hits in five innings, with seven strikeouts and two walks. Justin Lawrence (1-1) allowed four runs in one inning.

In the second, Cron singled and Ryan McMahon doubled. Grichuk’s double drove them both home for a 2-0 Colorado lead. Two outs later, Serven brought Grichuk home with a base hit.

The Rockies added another in the third on Cron’s two-out homer, his 12th, to make it 4-0.

In the bottom of the third, Tyler Heineman walked and went to third on Bryan Reynolds’ double. An out later, Ke’Bryan Hayes’ groundout scored Heineman. Gamel followed with an RBI single to make it 4-2.

Against Mitch Keller in the fifth, Yonathan Daza and Charlie Blackmon singled, with Daza going to third and Blackmon making it to second on center fielder Reynolds’ throwing error. Grichuk drove in Daza with a base hit to make it 5-2.

With Rockies reliever Lucas Gilbreath in, Michael Chavis drew a one-out walk in the sixth. An out later, Carlos Esteves replaced Gilbreath. Rodolfo Castro singled, and Suwinski tied it 5-5 with his fifth homer of the season.

The Pirates took the lead in the seventh against Lawrence. Reynolds walked and went to third when Mitchell singled. An out later, Gamel’s single scored Reynolds to make it 6-5. Another out later, VanMeter hit his third homer, to right, to increase the lead to 9-5.

Suwinski walked, stole second and scored on Mitchell’s double in the eighth.
