Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton is recovering from surgery on his right knee, The Athletic reported Thursday.

The surgery took place after the after the Bucks’ loss in the first round of the NBA playoffs to the Miami Heat, per the report, but was not announced by the team. It was described as a minor arthroscopic procedure, and he is expected to return to the court next month.

The Athletic said the procedure was planned for the end of the season. It bookended the beginning of the 2022-23 season, when Middleton, 31, missed the first 20 games because of offseason surgery on his left wrist.

Middleton, a three-time All-Star, played in just 33 games last season and averaged 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game. He was plagued by right knee soreness throughout the season. He also played through a left ankle sprain and blisters on both feet.

The Bucks are waiting to hear if Middleton will pick up his $40.4 million player option for the 2023-24 season.
