Walmart Canada has completed thirty years of serving customers in North America. It celebrated its Year Beginning Meeting (YBM) with Walmart CEO Doug McMillon. The US CEO has been heading the giant retailer since 2014 and celebrated the 2024 YBM with a birthday party. He posted photos of the celebrations along with Walmart Canada associates.

He said it was fun to celebrate associates of Walmart Canada who had been with the big box retailer since they acquired Woolco Canada and even before. He listed the associates, including
Grant—39 years
Valdy—44 years and
Ann—53 years.

Doug McMillon also shouted out to Fernande, whom he said might be remembered from Associates Week. He noted his 60-year service, which he described as “incredible.”

He congratulated everybody on the milestone and individually appreciated each member of Walmart Canada and the work that they have been doing to serve Walmart’s customers, members, and each other.

Walmart Canada says on its site that it is part of Walmart Inc. It began operations in Canada in 1994. It is one of the largest employers in Canada and has more than 100,000 associates nationwide. It also has more than 2,000 Canadian suppliers and suppliers from other countries.

The site describes Walmart Canada as “an omnichannel retailer.” It says that over 1.5 million customers shop at their stores every day. More than 400 stores in Canada provide customers with all the goods they need. Walmart Canada also offers services such as pharmacies, medical clinics, and vision centers. They also have restaurants and hair and nail salons. Walmart has its Canadian headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario.

Walmart’s e-commerce site in Canada is visited by more than 1.5 million Canadians every day. Millions of items are sold on its site.
