Upgraded is about Anna (Mendes), a female employee at a gallery apprenticeship who holds a master’s degree in art history and appears overly qualified for the position. The chance to collaborate with Claire Dupree (Marisa Tomei, who loves the job), a legend in fine arts auctions, makes it all worthwhile. Even though her boss is demanding and the work is hard, Anna finds it all worthwhile because she hopes to use the experience to open her gallery someday.

After rescuing the day at work—more precisely, pulling Claire out of a problematic situation—Anna is rewarded with a trip to London to assist with a prestigious auction. After moving from her worst economy-class seat to a first-class one, she meets the dashing, kind, and charming Will (Renaux). She unintentionally tells him a falsehood about her title at the auction house, making him believe she is the director.

Marisa Tomei consistently delivered outstanding performances every time she graced the screen. Lena Olin was captivating; she truly illuminated the screen.

Camila’s performance was just as good, and Rachel and Fola portrayed delightfully wicked characters along with sharp wit and manners.

The rest of the cast executed their roles competently, making this film as enjoyable as ever.
