Walmart, the world and the nation’s largest retailer, is always looking at ways and means to serve its customers and associates. It also adopts cutting edge technology while looking to give its customer better value for each dollar spent in the store. Now, it is looking to add college graduates as employees who will gain additional benefits when they join the “College2Career’ program offered by the big box retailer, this summer.

In a statement, on Sunday, Walmart announced the following roles available in their company:
Part-time roles in High School (hourly positions)
Retail experience while studying in college (internship)
College2Career program (to launch in Summer 2022)
Home Office Pathway Experience Program
Grow on-the-job at any stage with Walmart Academy
Second career opportunities (for veterans and military spouses).

According to the statement, the College2Career program is designed for young professionals to get a flying start in their career by helping to run one of Walmart’s stores. Recent college graduates as well as those who are within 12 months of graduating can avail the program. Walmart associates are also eligible to join.

Those who participate in the College2Career program will go through the following comprehensive mix of training that includes
classroom training
hands-on-experience
one-to-one mentoring with leaders at Walmart.

The college graduates will also learn the “ins and outs” of Walmart. They will be trained to become a salaried management member at a local Walmart store. Top performers of the program, which will begin this summer, will be offered the job of emerging coach. This newly created management job will have a starting wage of $65,000 per year.

Walmart envisages that the emerging coach roles would be “an additional pipeline to develop high-potential talent into future store managers.” In 2021, store managers had an approximate average wage of $210,000. The retail giant believes that emerging coaches from the College2Career program will have the potential to become store managers within two years.
