KKR will pay WebMD shares for $66.50 each in cash. The shares were trading at just over $50 when WebMD said it would agree to the offer.

The New York Times writer Virginia Hefferman criticized WebMD, saying “It biases readers toward using unnecessary drugs sold by their pharmaceutical sponsors, specifically, in cases for which the drug has been determined to be unnecessary.”
