Apple is reportedly planning to build a home robot. Recently, CWEB reported that the tech giant had scrapped its Project Titan, which was supposed to involve manufacturing an electric car, a decade-long secret project. Now, a report from an analyst at a popular outlet known to break news about Apple’s projects allegedly and more has said that the Cupertino giant is working on developing home robots.
Bloomberg reported that the Cupertino tech giant has been working on personal robots. These machines can follow their owners as they move around their homes. One product could be a device that sits on a table. A robot is used to move a screen around. It is similar to its existing FaceTime, but in this instance, the camera will move, unlike FaceTime, which is static. It appears to be a “responsive” TV screen.
Apple is looking for its next major project decades after the launch of its flagship iPhone. Its automatic electric car project has been abandoned, and its VR product, Vision Pro, has received mixed reviews. It has not gained market share as there are cheaper alternatives, including Meta products.
The outlet reported that the robots are being developed in the company’s hardware engineering division. According to the report, the machine-learning group also collaborates with the division.
Apple has seen declining iPhone sales. It has not launched a new product in years, but it continues to make next-generation devices from its popular existing products. However, sales are not as vibrant as before. The Vision Pro launch has been its only new product, but its bulky nature and high cost have made it popular mainly with die-hard web fans.
Apple has faced lawsuits similar to those of other tech companies in the past few years. It needs a “win” in a new product and might hope to find one in-home robot in the distant if not the near future.
