WTA News: Ons Jabeur rallies to defeat Jelena Ostapenko at Stuttgart

Third-seeded Ons Jabeur of Tunisia rallied for a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia in the Round of 16 at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Wednesday in Stuttgart, Germany.

Jabeur fought with her serve, overcoming five double faults and getting just 53 percent of her first serves in. She did record nine aces in the WTA 500 clay-court tournament. Jabeur advances to the quarterfinals.

Fifth-seeded Coco Gauff also needed three sets to defeat Russian Veronika Kudermetova 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (3) in a match that lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Second-seeded Aryna Sablalenka of Belarus rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic. Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan also won her match in straight sets over German Jule Niemeier 7-6, 6-3.

Eight seed Maria Sakkari of Greece was upended 6-2, 6-3 by Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic.
