More than a dozen French bulldogs, each worth more than $100,000, were stolen from a Port St. Lucie residence by burglars, and Florida police are looking for them.

The thieves busted open a bedroom window at a house in the town, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, and took 19 French bulldogs. The suspects got away in a four-door car with a dented bumper.

Thefts of French bulldogs have been reported more frequently in recent years, and many people attribute this to the breed’s high value. In 2020, Frenchie’s ranked as the second most popular dog breed in the United States and ranged in price from $1,500 to $4,500.

The unique French bulldog, with his enormous bat ears and even temperament, is one of the most well-liked small dog breeds in the world, especially among city dwellers, according to the American Kennel Club.

Celebrity singer Lady Gaga received extensive media coverage when two of her three French bulldogs were stolen and her dog walker was shot last year in Los Angeles. Later, they were given back.
