The Minnesota Rokkr took their foot off the gas on Sunday, but they still managed to pull out a 3-2 win against the winless Boston Breach in qualifying action for the Call of Duty League’s Stage 3 Major.

It was all Minnesota through the first two maps, and the Rokkr went up 2-0 to put Boston on the ropes.

But the Breach responded with a 3-0 win on Karachi Control and a 250-230 victory on Vista Hardpoint to draw even. However, Minnesota recovered, taking 6 Star Search & Destroy 6-5 to drop Boston to 0-2 in qualifying.

France’s Thomas “Lyynnz” Gregorio helped the Rokkr hold off the Breach by collecting a match-high 97 kills. He finished with a plus-1.20 kill-death ratio.

Englishman Ben “Beans” McMellon had 86 kills for Boston.

All 12 CDL teams will play seven qualifying matches ahead of the Stage 3 Major, scheduled for May 16-19 in Toronto. Every team will advance to the double-elimination tournament, with the qualifying matches determining seeding.

Each qualifier win is worth 10 points. The prize pool for the tournament (money and CDL points) has yet to be announced.

The Toronto Ultra won the Stage 1 Major in January. The Atlanta FaZe won the Stage 2 Major in March.

Sunday’s other two matches were 3-0 sweeps, with Atlanta blanking Toronto and the Carolina Royal Ravens shutting out the Los Angeles Guerrillas. The FaZe have won all three of their qualifying matches so far.

Qualifying picks up again on Friday with two matches:
–Los Angeles Thieves vs. Carolina Royal Ravens
–Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. Minnesota Rokkr

Call of Duty League Stage 3 Major qualifying standings (points, match win-loss record, map win-loss differential):
