The Toronto Ultra nearly blew a 2-0 lead but held on to beat the Minnesota Rokkr 3-2 on Sunday to become the second team to improve to 2-0 in the Call of Duty League’s Stage 2 Major qualifying.

After winning 250-156 on Skidrow Hardpoint and 6-5 Karachi Search & Destroy, the Ultra surrendered the next two maps — 3-1 on Karachi Control and 250-206 on Rio Hardpoint. But the Ultra dominated the winner-take-all fifth map, winning 6-0 on Invasion Search & Destroy.

The Ultra won the season’s first major, Stage 1 in January.

All 12 CDL teams will play seven qualifying matches ahead of the Stage 2 Major, scheduled for March 21-24 in Miami. Every team will advance to the double-elimination tournament, with the qualifying matches determining seeding.

Each qualifier win is worth 10 points. The prize pool for the tournament (money and CDL points) has yet to be announced.

In Sunday’s other games, the Las Vegas Legion beat the Los Angeles Guerillas 3-1 and OpTic Texas swept the Los Angeles Thieves 3-0.

The Legion opened the day’s first match with a 250-192 win on Karachi Hardpoint before the Guerrillas evened it up with a 6-2 win on Invasion Search & Destroy. But Vegas swept the final two maps, 3-2 on Highrise Control and 250-236 on Rio Hardpoint.

In Sunday’s final match, OpTic dominated from start to finish: 250-122 on Rio Hardpoint, 6-3 on Karachi Search & Destroy and 3-2 on Invasion Control.

Play resumes Friday with a trio of matches to start Week 2:
–New York Subliners vs. Boston Breach
–Minnesota Rokkr vs. OpTic Texas
–Miami Heretics vs. Las Vegas Legion
