Paul DeJong had two doubles, two runs and an RBI as the visiting Chicago White Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-1 on Sunday.

Eloy Jimenez hit a solo homer and Bryan Ramos got his first career RBI for the White Sox, who won two of three games from the Cardinals to earn their second series victory of the season.

Winning pitcher Garrett Crochet (2-4) allowed one run on three hits in six innings. He struck out six batters and walked nobody.

Steve Wilson, Jordan Leasure and John Brebbia each threw a scoreless inning to finish out the victory.

Willson Contreras hit a solo homer for the Cardinals, who mustered just four hits while losing for the fourth time in five games.

The Cardinals moved Matthew Liberatore from the bullpen to the starting rotation after Steve Matz landed on the 15-day injured list with a back strain.

Working with a pitch count, Llberatore allowed one run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out five batters and walked one.

Reliever Kyle Leahy blanked the White Sox for 2 1/3 innings, but Giovanny Gallegos (2-1) allowed three runs without retiring a batter to take the loss.

The White Sox took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. DeJong hit a double against his former team, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Ramos’ sacrifice fly.

Contreras tied the game 1-1 with his homer in the fourth inning. It was his sixth of the season.

The other Cardinals’ scoring chance came in the sixth inning when Brendan Donovan reached on an infield single and took second base on a two-out wild pitch. But Crochet struck out Paul Goldschmidt to strand him.

Chicago regained the lead in the seventh inning off Gallegos and John King. Jimenez led off by hitting his fourth homer of the season. Gavin Sheets and DeJong followed with doubles to knock Gallegos out of the game.

DeJong moved to third on Ramos’ single off King, then he scored on Braden Shewmake’s single to make it 4-1. Robbie Grossman added a sacrifice fly.
