On Thursday, Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) U.K. announced that celebrity actor Kevin Spacey, 62 had been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men. The alleged incidents were said to have taken place between 2005 to 2103 in Britain, three in London and one in western England.
Rosemarie Ainslie, the head of CPS’ Special Crime Division said that the charges were made after there was a review of the evidence that had been gathered by the Metropolitan Police in London. Some of the charges could be cases during the time the celebrity actor was in charge of the iconic Old Vic theater in London, between 2004 and 2015.
The CPS also said that it reminded all concerned that “criminal proceedings against Mr. Spacey are active and that he has a right to a fair trial.”
The celebrated Academy Award winning actor,best supporting actor for The Usual Suspects in 1995 and lead actor Oscar for “American Beauty” in 1999, saw his career hit a giant roadblock when he was accused of sexual assault by celebrity actor Anthony Rapp. Rapp who acted in “Star Trek: Discovery said that he was assaulted by Kevin Spacey when he was a teenager but Spacey denied the allegations.
Kevin Spacey is still facing a civil suit as Rapp has filed a lawsuit in New York for sexual abuse. However, a criminal charge against the celebrity actor was dropped in 2018 in Massachusetts after the alleged victim did not testify. The alleged victim also withdrew a civil lawsuit against the actor. He also escaped a potential criminal charge, in 2018 in Los Angeles. Prosecutors said that the alleged incident had been time-barred as per the statue of limitations, in California.

Kevin Spacey’s whereabouts are a mystery in recent years, although he was interviewed by the Met Police, in 2019. At Cannes 2022, the veteran actor was planning a comeback as two films “Peter Five Eight” and “Gateway to the West, starring Spacey were shopped at the film festival. These films will most likely be on hold as the celebrity actor would have to face charges, in London.
