Celebrity Jamie Foxx apologized to the Jewish community on social media on Saturday. An earlier post by him had been criticized by some as being antisemitic. The post has been removed since and the celebrity actor said that it had been misunderstood by web fans, who criticized it.
Oscar winning actor Jamie Foxx shared the following text on social media: “I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post. I now know my choice of words has caused offense and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”
In a since deleted post the celebrity actor said, “They killed this dude named Jesus….What do you think they’ll do to you???!” He ended the post with hashtags #fakefriends and #fakelove.
Some critics interpreted the “they” in the post to mean “Jewish people” as the historic belief is that the Jewish community was responsible for Jesus’ death.
His Saturday post also clarified the matter further when Jamie Foxx said that he had been “betrayed by a fake friend” and that was whom he was referring to when he said “they.”
He added that he only has “love for everyone” and he loved and supported the Jewish community and once again said “My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended.”
Many web fans came to the American actor’s defense as they believed that he was not referring to Jewish people. One web fan said on social media that words such as “They killed/lied on/talked about Jesus” just meant that if Jesus could be betrayed then so could others.

Another web fan noted that Jamie Foxx was a decent person and so he had apologized and pointed out the hashtag “fake friends” and asked how some people missed seeing it and more.
Celebrity Jamie Foxx has apologized and being a decent man would like this controversy to die a natural death as he has apologized. He also clarified the meaning behind the post that has been removed from his feed.
