Celebrity Leah Remini filed a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology and its leader David Miscavige. She has detailed the harassment, intimidation, stalking and more in her lawsuit filed on Wednesday, in California. The Emmy Award winning producer was a former member of the church and said that they have campaigned to destroy her and ruin her life after she left the Church of Scientology and criticized them in a documentary series and more.
The 60-page court filing in the California Superior Court required “Scientology, and any entity it controls and funds, to cease and desist its alleged practice of harassment, defamation, and other unlawful conduct against anyone who Scientology has labeled as an ‘enemy.’”
She is also asking for compensatory and punitive damages as Scientology has had a detrimental effect on her personal and professional life.
The lawsuit also alleges that current and former members of the Scientology church had recorded videos to defame and called her “racist” and also said that she had been “abusive to her mother and daughter.”
She also mentioned that she had to hire bodyguards to protect her and more. The suit also alleged that her family members as well as her friends had been harassed.
The 53-year-old celebrity actress also said that the final objective of the Church of Scientology of “silencing” her had “not been achieved.”
The Church of Scientology has also been in the news recently as a prominent member Danny Masterson of celebrity series That 70s show had “raped women and hid behind Church of Scientology” according to several reports.
The King of Queens alum joined the church in 1979, when she was a child. Celebrity actress Leah Remini left the church in 2013. Three years later she co-created and produced a documentary series about the Church of Scientology. The three-season series titled Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath won two Emmy awards. She has allegedly been facing harassment, intimidation and more after the release of the series and due to her quest to expose the alleged policies of the Church of Scientology.
