 Delicious Easter Egg Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Assorted food coloring
  • Easter egg-shaped cookie cutters
  • Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration (optional)

Instructions:

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C)—line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  • Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Divide the Dough: Divide the dough into smaller portions, depending on how many colors you want to use for your Easter egg cookies.
  • Color the Dough: Add food coloring to each portion of dough and knead until the color is evenly distributed. For vibrant colors, you can use gel food coloring.
  • Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out each colored dough portion to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  • Cut-Out Shapes: Use Easter egg-shaped cookie cutters to cut the cookies from the rolled dough. Place the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
