Five-star recruit Karter Knox, who decommitted from Kentucky when head coach John Calipari left the school, has recommitted to Calipari at Arkansas.

“Throughout my whole recruiting process, Coach Cal always said he wants to make me a pro, and I trust that he will do that for me at Arkansas,” Knox wrote Monday on Instagram. “I also have a great relationship with (associate head coach Kenny Payne), so getting to play for two coaches I admire is a dream come true. I’m looking forward to getting there, getting to work and bringing a championship to Fayetteville.”

Payne, who spent the past two seasons as head coach at Louisville, signed a three-year contract with Arkansas last week. Payne coached under Calipari at Kentucky from 2010-20.

Knox, the younger brother of NBA player Kevin Knox, is ranked No. 22 overall in the Class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite and the No. 7 small forward. Kevin Knox spent one season with Calipari at Kentucky and was the No. 9 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Karter Knox averaged 22.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 30 minutes per game this season in the Overtime Elite League. In the Nike EYBL last spring and summer, Knox scored 19.8 points in just 24 minutes per game.

Last week, 7-foot-2 freshman Zvonimir Ivisic became the first Kentucky player to follow Calipari to Arkansas since Mark Pope took over as the Wildcats’ coach.

Four other prized recruits who were planning to join Knox at Kentucky — five-stars Boogie Fland and Jayden Quaintance and four-stars Somto Cyril and Billy Richmond — have yet to decide where they will play this fall.

Calipari starts at Arkansas with a clean slate as all 13 of its scholarship players from this season won’t return next season.
