Former Boxer Celebrity Mike Tyson Accused of Another Rape in Early 1990s, Sued for $5 Million

Celebrity former professional boxer Mike Tyson is in the limelight once again. A woman who claims she met the former professional boxer during a night out at a New York dance club in the early 1990s has accused him of rape. The woman is suing boxing legend Mike Tyson because she claims he sexually assaulted her in a limo in the early 1990s after they met at a well-known nightclub in Albany.

The unidentified plaintiff who has claimed in a complaint submitted in Albany this month, has demanded $5 million in damages that the rape has caused her, alleging “physical, psychological, and emotional injury” over the years. She did not provide the exact date of the alleged attack; says only it happened in the early 1990s. It has been speculated that this was around the same time that Desiree Washington, the 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant, alleged being raped by the boxer in Indianapolis.

After retaining the undisputed world heavyweight championship from 1987 to 1990, Tyson established himself as a prominent figure in the sport. He became the youngest player to hold the title with his first victory at age 20. Even though he is still regarded as one of the best in his sport, his personal life has been marred by controversy, including claims of physical abuse from his first wife, Robin Givens. In 2009, he admitted openly that the allegations were true while appearing on Oprah Winfrey’s show.

Additionally, the celebrity boxer’s other legal issues included a rape conviction of Washington in 1992, for which he reportedly served three years in prison, biting off a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear during a 1997 rematch, a 1999 prison sentence for assaulting two drivers, and once more in 2007, for cocaine possession and drunk driving.
