Longtime Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith announced his retirement Tuesday after 17 seasons in the NHL.
A three-time Stanley Cup champion and two-time Norris Trophy winner with the Blackhawks, Keith played one season with the Edmonton Oilers in 2021-22.

Keith, who turns 39 on Saturday, had one year left on his contract at $5.54 million.
He skated in 1,256 regular season games and accumulated 646 points (106 goals, 540 assists), including 21 points (one goal, 20 assists) in 64 games with the Oilers. He tallied 91 points (19 goals, 72 assists) in 151 career postseason games.
Keith won Stanley Cups with Chicago in 2010, 2013 and 2015, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy in the latter playoff campaign after registering 21 points (three goals, 18 assists) in 23 games.
The Blackhawks also acknowledged their longtime star.

Keith won the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top blueliner in 2009-10 and 2013-14.
The Winnipeg native was drafted in the second round by Chicago in 2002 and ranks second in Blackhawks history in games (1,192), sixth in assists (520) and 10th in points (625).
