Nissan introduces a pay-as-you-go, extremely low mileage lease

As some people are driving less due to working at home, or other lifestyle changes, some look for an alternative in leasing options that offer lower mileage. An alternative lease option is great for people that have two cars and only drive one car as their main car and the other less frequently. It’s also a great option for people that just don’t drive often but must have a car.

Limits on mileage are common in car leases. The new Nissan SignatureFLEX lease program offers a very low annual mileage cap of just 5,000 miles. Customers can add extra for a price that is less than the normal fine they incur for exceeding their mileage allowance. The only drawback is that not all models now support SignatureFLEX. It will first be restricted to Pathfinder and Rogue. Nissan claims that more models will likely be offered through this lease arrangement in 2019.

Nissan is introducing a new lease option for customers who purchase specific models. According to Automotive News, Nissan’s financial division, NMAC (Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation), has launched a new low-mileage leasing program that clients can extend if necessary.

Since the pandemic started, Jim DeTrude, vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan’s financing division, told reporters that the business has observed a desire for shorter leases. 67% of its leases had a cap of 12,000 km as of 2020. The business debuted a 10,000-mile lease in 2021, and it quickly became its best-selling option.
