Prince William and Kate Middleton got married on April 19, 2011. On their 13th wedding anniversary, Prince William and Princess Catherine shared a never-before-seen photo on social media. Westminster Abbey, the cathedral where the Prince and Princess of Wales got married, also shared a video of the royal couple leaving the iconic London church after their wedding on social media. Many web fans were overjoyed to see the posts and poured in love, well wishes, and congratulations.
The black-and-white photo shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales shows Prince William and Kate Middleton standing together and smiling. The caption says, “13 years ago today!”
Kate Middleton is wearing her white wedding gown and holding many flowers, mainly lilies of the valley. Her wedding bouquet is a nod to Queen Elizabeth, as the lily of the valley was her favorite flower.
William & Catherine’s bridesmaid’s dresses were Nicki Macfarlane and were intended to echo the shape of the bride’s gown. The Pages wore a uniform in the style of that worn by a Foot Guards officer at the time of the Regency (the 1820s).
Kate also wore Queen Elizabeth’s Halo Tiara, and her jewelry consisted of diamond earrings. She did not wear a bracelet or necklace, as her gown had long lace sleeves. However, the biggest adornment on her face was her brilliant smile as she had just married her college sweetheart, Prince William.
Prince William wore the black uniform of the Blues and Royals, as seen in the new photo. During the wedding, he wore the red tunic of the Irish Guards. Prince William was Colonel in Chief of the Irish Guards at his wedding. In 2022, Princess Catherine took over this role.
Westminster Abbey, the London landmark that was the location of the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, also shared a video to mark this occasion on social media. The account posted a video of the royal couple leaving Westminster while the Abbey bells rang to mark the significant event. The crowds outside cheered, and the video showed the horse-drawn carriage which carried the royal couple. The video also showed the bridal party, including Prince Harry, Pippa Middleton, and Kate Middleton’s sister.
