According to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics, the 2024 playoff between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers averaged 123.4 million viewers, breaking the 115.1 million viewership when the Kansas City Chiefs won against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
Nielsen also stated that 202.4 million web fans watched part of the games across networks, while 183.6 million had partly watched the 2023 Super Bowl. Therefore, the total viewership of the Super Bowl increased by seven percent in 2024, while the viewership of those who watched part of the match increased by 10 percent. This is also a record viewership for CBS network, the official media partner of the game.
Canada also posted an increase in viewership of Super Bowl 2024. Preliminary data from Numeris confirms an average of 10 million TSN, CTV, and RDS viewers. It has also been reported that the number of web fans watching the Super Bowl halftime show when celebrity R&B artist Usher performed rose to 12.6 million.
The National Football League has said that celebrity Taylor Swift’s attendance at games whenever her boyfriend, Kansas City Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce, played had increased interest and viewership of the NFL. It attracted new viewers as many famous singer’s web fans began watching football.
