Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States issued Alaska Airlines a ground stop advisory, stating, “All Alaska mainline and subcarrier flights have been grounded.”

The FAA stated in a separate statement that the airline “requested the FAA to suspend the airline’s nationwide mainline departures.” No explanation was given regarding the cessation. According to a report by CNBC, the dilemma might have been caused by an IT malfunction, as the airline’s weight and balance calculation system was not operating properly.

We are making every effort to resolve the situation immediately. Before proceeding to the airport, we urge guests to verify the status of their flights on alaskaair.com or the Alaska App. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
