According to reports, two women are suing the former two-time heavyweight world champion in Los Angeles County on the grounds that he assaulted them while they were minors, in the 1970s. The women claimed that Foreman began grooming them as young children while working with their fathers, according to two lawsuits they filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The women have reportedly requested $12.5 million apiece from the 1968 Olympic gold medalist.

Celebrity legendary boxer George Foreman is being sued for alleged sexual assault that is claimed to have taken place in the 1970s. The boxer has admitted that he is being accused by two women who were attempting to blackmail him. The 73-year-old said the accusers were attempting to extort “millions of dollars” from him and his family and vehemently denied the allegations.

According to reports, Denise S. of Los Angeles County, who supposedly first met Foreman when she was just eight years old, claimed the boxing legend took her out for ice cream. She claimed that while he was driving, he allowed her to sit on his lap and behaved inappropriately. She also claims that the boxer groomed her sexually for several years.

The second alleged victim initially spoke with Foreman when she was nine years old, court records say. She asserted that until she turned 16, the former boxing champion would violate her sexually. She said Foreman invited her to his apartment when she was 15 years old after meeting him years earlier in Philadelphia. She claimed he threatened to fire her father, who worked for the boxer.

The complaints claim sexual battery and deliberate infliction of emotional distress. The case was filed in accordance with an update to California’s statute of limitations for specific sex offenses passed in 2020, extending the window of opportunity for victims of childhood sexual assault to file claims. The new statute allows plaintiffs to file a claim anytime within five years after learning of their injury that was a result of the assault.

The celebrity has categorically refuted the accusations. Foreman swore he won’t be “intimidated” by threats and lies, calling them “baseless,” and he promised not to be. The former athlete competed in the heavyweight division in the Mexico 1968 Games, winning an Olympic gold medal. When Muhammad Ali defeated Foreman in the renowned Rumble in the Jungle match, it was Foreman’s first defeat in professional boxing. In 2003, he was admitted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, honoring his resounding career.
