U.S. intelligence report suggests Havana Syndrome might be caused by directed energy

A new intelligence report, which has been heavily redacted, suggests that directed energy “plausibly explains” some cases of those who suffer from a group of symptoms from the disorder has been classified as the ‘Havana Syndrome.’ It was first observed in diplomats and intelligence officers who stationed in the Cuban city, in 2016.

The Havana Syndrome has been recurring among different diplomats and C.I.A. officials who have been stationed abroad in various countries, around the world. There have been strong debates on the condition, particularly with reference to two factors: whether it was caused by a device or whether there was a psychological issue.

The newest report that has been compiled by a group of experts from U.S. intelligence agencies confirms that symptoms were “genuine” and “compelling.” They mention the possibility that the symptoms could have been caused by a concealed device. However, the report does not look at the devices or countries who might be responsible for causing the condition.

In January, a CIA produced study dismissed the notion of a widespread campaign caused by a foreign state. It said that many of the experienced symptoms could be explained by natural causes or by stress. However, the report acknowledged that about two dozens people’s symptoms could not be explained.

The new study looked at over a thousand classified documents. It examined witnesses and focused on a group of people, whose number remains undisclosed, who suffered from a specific set of symptoms. They found that their symptoms could not be explained by either environmental or medical conditions.

The medical, scientific and engineering experts in the new study concluded that an “external stimuli” or source could have cause the symptoms. The source consisting of pulsed electromagnetic energy that was mainly from the radio frequency range was the most plausible explanation, despite there being gaps in the information.

The report noted that the effects that were felt by the studied group could be from non-standard antennas that could be concealed as they required moderate power. The energy could pass through air as well as walls of buildings and could be emitted by a device.
